Week 8 - Trademark, copyright and Essay Progress

What is a Trademark??

“A trade mark is a way of identifying a unique product or service. Sometimes called a brand, your trade mark is your identity. ”  (IP Australia, 2015).

A trademark is a way to distinguish your brand from anther brand, whether it is a picture, shape, packaging, word or phrase etc., giving you the right to use them commercially for elements You can legally register a word, phrase, logo, picture, shape, aspect of packaging. Trademarking gives the right to commercially use these elements for the goods or services that are registered under it.

What is a copyright?
“Copyright protection is free and automatic in Australia and protects the original expression of ideas, and not the ideas themselves” (IP Australia, 2015). The holder of the copyright license is given the right to publish, copy and make available the work, as well as to create derivates and variations,and allow for its access to be wherever they deem fit (i.e. online), with copyright provides protection for the creative expression of said idea or concept.

Creative Commons

Creative Commons is a not for profit organisation that provides free licensing for creative materials and provides a search engine where one can search for copy-written materials, that are accessable for ones own consumption, as well as using imagery and content that is accessible by and for the public for individual usage (www.creativecommons.org).
